|Thunder Rock Campgrounds (Ocoee, TN)
Located just north of the 1996 Olympic Site, behind TVA Powerhouse Number 3, Thunder Rock Campground is nestled along the banks of the Ocoee River. There are two trailheads in the surrounding area – Thunder Rock Express and Dry Pond Lead with parking available at the Campground entrance (no fee for hikers). Many whitewater rafters and kayakers often enjoy this campground. For the hiking and biking enthusiasts the Tanasi Trail system that adjoins the Ocoee Whitewater Center is a short hike or drive from the campground.
|Parksville Lake Campground
Located near Parksville Lake, this popular campground is divided by Highway 30 into an R.V. campground and a tent/group campground. The R.V. sites are well shaded and well spaced and many will accomodate large R.V.’s. Several sites offer the opportunity for two R.V.’s to camp close together and some are located along a small stream. The group sites are set up with tent pads around a central fire ring and picnic table area. Convenient to the Ocoee River, the Ocoee Whitewater Center (site of the 1996 Olympic Kayak events), Parksville Lake beaches and boat ramps, many miles of mountain bike/hiking trails and whitewater rafting, it’s a great central location for day trips.
