Erik was born in Knoxville, Tennessee where he spent much of his youth enjoying the mountains and rivers of the southern Appalachians with his family, especially his father who is an avid whitewater canoeist to this day. Somewhere along the way, Erik discovered an intense appetite for exploring wild places. His kayaking passion has taken him all over North America, South America, Europe, and more in his endless pursuit of exploration and flow state.
